The story behind CaloTec-AI

An Israeli app born from a simple frustration: why should logging a meal be a project?

The desk where the app was written

2023 — The idea

As a software developer trying to watch my weight, I looked for a calorie app that didn't feel like a form in English. I couldn't find one that understood Hebrew and local food, so I started building one.

2024 — The build

We connected an AI engine that breaks a free-form sentence into foods and nutrition values, and settled one principle that never moved: the food diary is stored on the user's device, not with us.

2025 — The launch

CaloTec-AI went live on Google Play: calorie tracking, steps via Health Connect, water and a rewards system. Free, ad-supported, in five languages.

Three things that don't move

Free for everyone

Every feature is open, no subscription and no paywall. The app runs on ads, and that's the whole model.

The diary is yours

Meals, weight and goals are stored on the device. Analysis runs against the AI engine, but the diary itself doesn't sit on our server.

Built with its users

Features ship based on what users ask for in email and reviews. Write to us — we read everything.

The app is young and improving every month

Download it, try it, and tell us what to build next.
