5 Meal-Logging Mistakes — and How to Use AI Carefully

AI food analysis starts with the description you provide. If an ingredient, amount, or cooking method is missing, the result may be incomplete too. Treat the returned numbers as estimates, review them, and only then save the meal.

Using a Description That Is Too Vague

"Salad" might mean vegetables alone, or it might include cheese, oil, dressing, or nuts. Instead of entering a short label, include the ingredients and any amounts you know: "vegetable salad with one tablespoon of tahini and half a pita."

Do not invent gram amounts you do not know. A familiar unit such as a tablespoon, cup, slice, or item is more useful, while the result still remains an estimate.

Leaving Out Extras and Drinks

Dressing, cooking oil, milk in coffee, and a drink served with the meal are part of the log. Include them when you want a more complete record.

Treating an Estimate Like a Measurement

CaloTec-AI sends the meal description to an AI service and returns estimated food items, amounts, calories, protein, carbohydrates, and fat. It is not a laboratory measurement, and the app cannot infer a detail that was never provided.

Review home-cooked and restaurant meals with extra care because recipes and serving sizes vary. If a result looks unreasonable, edit it or submit a clearer description.

Skipping the Transcript Review

With voice input, CaloTec-AI transcribes speech and leaves the text in the field. It does not submit the transcript automatically. Read it before submission and correct any food name or amount that was misunderstood.

Logging Too Late

It becomes easier to forget an ingredient or extra as time passes. You can describe the meal soon after eating, review the text, and save it after the estimate appears.

What to Keep in Mind

AI can shorten data entry, but it cannot replace accurate input from the user. A useful log still depends on a clear description, transcript review, and a check of the result. CaloTec-AI is not a substitute for professional medical or nutrition advice.
